The world of Rezalah
Bane Of The Talebearer takes place in 19 individual locations that are of interest for the story. Each location will get it’s own page dedicated to it in the near future.
1: City of Ran-Dena
The grand industrial city our story starts in. A city in which magic, steel and electricity connect with one another. A city built on contrasts from the very richest living in massive castle-like mansions to the poorest living in the tunnels beneath the slums. Bars, theatres and brothels provide the reputation of the city that can fullfill EVERY desire.
2: Ran-Dena Bridge
The massive bridge that connects the island and city of Ran-Dena to the mainland. Built out of stone, withstanding multiple wars over the years. Statues line the sides of old warheroes.
3: Urhana Village
The small farm village that serves as the portal to the kingdom of Erana. Filled with people who live simple lives in which all their needs are met. The few houses this village is made up off, are made of solid brick, with the centerpiece being a large inn in the centre that serves as a welcome spot for travellers that pass through.
4: Land of the Razor Claw
The enclave of the wolf tribe. Hidden away in a dense forest, surrounded by big plains on which they travel for the hunt. The tribe lives in harmony with nature. Not much is known about this tribe, as the Razor Claw Tribe is notoriously protective over their lands and does not take kindly to intruders.
5: Port Town of Garu
A calm town that serves as the main provider of fish for the kingdom of Tyona. Most houses here are connected to docks with fishing boats, big and small laying dormant or being used on a daily basis. The fish fixation is clear and the smell proves it.
6: Plains of Yon Way
An open barren plain with rock formations that serves as the training ground for Master Yon-Way. He has a little stone house he fashioned himself there with a fireplace in front at which he spends his evenings eating and watching stars. Some of the rock formations seem to be built like gym equipment to train hopefuls who are willing to learn of Master Yon-Way’s style.
7: Kingdom of Tyona
A large city situated around a central castle structure. Big stone walls close it off from the outside world due to the proximity to the mountains (with their mountain demons) and the orcs on the other side. Old medieval town vibes. The castle in the center of town stands out, but not because of it’s majesty. It’s more like the opposite, as the castle is in a derelict state with holes in two of the towers and roofs almost seeming like they are collapsing. No flags are seen hanging when the party arrives.
8: The land of Gesugo
An island in the southwest of Rezalah. Known for it’s diverse flora and fauna on a small scale. The main dock connects to a grassland with simple forests that splits off into the underground caves (inhabited by the mole foxes who specialize in weapon and jewelry making) and the marshes to the south which are said to be inhabited by a witch.
9: The Witches Marsh
An expansive marsh landscape that houses many wormlike and insect like creatures grown to sizes one would not expect anywhere else. Due to its mazelike structure and these inhabitants, it is a place of mystery according to travellers which is not advised to visit without proper equipment and battle preparation.
10: Eraenis Village
A small farmer’s village that consists of a community building, a church, an inn, a small shop and just… farms. The lands around it have a hill like quality to it, making it the perfect place to hold livestock like cows, sheep etc.
11: Leo’s House
The place where Leo spent his childhood after being saved by his guardians from the onslaught of the Lyonere people. The house is a derelict with holes in the roof and a lot of broken glass from the windows on the floor around it.
12: Kingdom of Erana
An opulent, over the top, kingdom that is completely made out of marble, gold and every material that is even remotely shiny. This kingdom is ruled by the upper class and only those lucky enough to be wealthy are allowed to live here. They welcome visitors to come and gasp at their riches, but then also are happy they leave again for they don’t like sharing any of it. Amidst all the white and gold, a black cathedral with red windows resides which is the main hall of the Brotherhood of Erafta.
13: Pilov’s Tower
Surrounded by a dense forest on one side (that can only be navigated if you know the magical password) and the sea on the other, Pilov’s Tower stands high on a cliff, looking over the lands and the sea around it. It’s a crooked, weirdly shaped construction that seems completely illogical, yet it has been standing like this for many aeons.
14: Jovah The Fisherman’s Cottage
It might not seem like much, but in this house lives the greatest seafarer in all of the world! Next to the small simple house, is a boat dock and a garage of sorts that he has built in which he “stores” his precious seavessel: The Flaming Mermaid!
15: The elven enclave of Yurana (Luventio Island)
An island that houses a seemingly impenetrable forest with one big tree rising out above all others. The big tree serves as the centrepiece of the elven enclave of Yurana. This elven civilization has lived in this enchanted forest safely for aeons and only allows carefully curated guests to find their village. The ornately built dock (With elven carvings and a wooden gate with elven symbols) on the north side of the island is their only connection to the outside world and Jovah (And his ancestors like his father Flynn) is the only human who is allowed to dock his ship at this dock.
16: The ocean lands of Ar-Ada & Fyanai Village.
A small island kingdom situated in the south-east of Rezalah. Beaches, sunny islands with palmtrees and people living in a calm state of being in simple wooden houses characterizes this part of the world. Fyanai is the only proper village in this part of the world with an inn, a town center, a few houses and a fish market. On the other islands individual residents are found who built little houses and live off the land and whatever their little gardens provide. And fish. Always fish.
17: Land of the Unaheh & the city of Arahod
A gargantuan hidden city inhabited by the Unaheh people. It can best be described as a giant glass and obsidian spire that is raised from the sea towering hundreds of floors high. It’s whispered to go above the clouds on the top floors, but that has never been factually confirmed as humans are not allowed on those levels. The top floors house one of the essences of magic that keeps the balance of the world stable. The Unaheh are burdened with the task to protect this balance and thusly, these floors are inaccessible to people from other races.
The middle spire made of black stone and glass is what is seen above the water, but submerged below the water surface, the city elaborates into a gigantic rounded donut-like shape in which most of the Unaheh residents live.
18: The orc Kingdom of Ar-En-Gol & The Desert of Ur-Eq.
The desert in the north-west of Rezalah is a large sand covered landmass that is enclosed by mountains in the north and south and is connected to the seas in the east & west. Only few creatures have adapted to the sands and thus the fauna is limited to resillient Cicada like creatures and Sand beasts that mostly live off eachother for sustenance.
Within this madness, the orcs constructed the kingdom of Ar-En-Gol that seems to both live in & out of harmony with it’s lands around it. The Orcs live in an oasis kind of place that provides water and lush green fields within the confines of the enclave. Due to the warm climate, the orcs prefer to mostly spend time outside on the many markets they have established for trading with the outside world.
The Orcs are known to be social and friendly and established trading partners, but are also known to be blunt and protective when the need arises.
19: Grave of the Lyonere
A desolate ruin that houses the final remnants of what once was the capital of the Lyonere kingdom. This was a mid sized city that was mostly built out of stone houses surrounding a massive palace like structure in the middle. All the houses and the palace were destroyed with only the foundations and walls of those structures remaining visible. In the middle of the old city square a broken statue can be seen of the former king of the Lyonere. His head cut off and nowhere to be found. Just a body standing proud holding a sword and a book that looks familiar…
